An individual’s sense of smell, vision, hearing, feeling, and taste are all revealed by the
head, eyes, ears, nose, and throat (HEENT) system individually. Even though the examination is
restricted to a person’s head, subjective and empirical observations may warrant mandatory
examinations of other body parts to establish substantial correlations. It is crucial to understand
the organs that make up the HEENT network in order to comprehend their relevance (Chen &
Zeng, 2020).
The head is made up of the skull bones, muscular, main blood arteries, lymphatic system,
and facial elements. It lays out the steps for researching the remaining elements of the HEENT
network. The skull’s primary function is to protect the head’s vital organs, particularly the brain.
During a patient’s watchful physiological assessment, the head muscles allows for the
manifestation of facial expression, which are vital for interpreting discomfort. According to Lu et
al., 2022). To maintain homeostasis, blood is delivered to it from tissue, allowing the brain’s
functions to function appropriately. Lymphatic networks run all through the brain and aid in the
regulation of the immunological reaction by identifying and removing foreign items.
The eyes offer agood critical purpose by giving vision, and that they are protected from
harm by amultitude of coverings. Dual lids function as adjustable shields that shield the eyes
from injury and strong light. The lacrimal existing system lubricates the cornea and conjunctiva
to maintain them hydrated. The bony orbital is acylinder that covers the eyes and provides long-
term protection against the environment. Extraocular muscles connected to the eye allow
simultaneous movement into aspecific object of focus. For each visual processing, the sclera,
choroid, and retina create the interior architecture of the eyes, safeguarding sensory perception,
and signaling to the nervous system, including the brain (Lu, et al., 2022).

According to Jarvis, the ears are major receptors that aid in mending, regulating, and
maintaining homeostasis (2016). The ear’s anatomy is divided into 3 segments: the outer ear,
middle ear, and inner ear. These components cooperate together to let sound to reach the ear and
escape the tympanic membrane as convulsions for cochlear stimulation (Jarvis, 2016). Following
being received by the cochlea, the audio being transmitted through the basilar barrier, where they
are transformed into electric signals by numerous hair sensors in the Corti organs for
examination by the brain’s cortical cortex (Jarvis, 2016). This system generates the sensory
impression that people recognise as audio.
The nose’s role in delivering moisture, filtration, and air intake is highlighted by Jarvis
(2016). It is the initial section of the bronchi, enabling air to enter the lungs properly through
the nostrils. They play an important role in preventing the entry of external chemicals and
pathogens into the body. The pharynx, or throat, is made up of organs that serve an important
part in the body ‘s immunological system. The tonsils are massive lymphoid cell clumps that
protect the body from pathogens and other illnesses. The pharynx connects to the esophageal and
the airway. The throat is used frequently in the diagnosis of several viral and bacterial infections
(Estes et al., 2018).
