Description
Socio-technical Systems Design incorporates technical, social, human and organizational factors while designing organizational systems. The principal aim is to understand the complex relationship among the human/users, technical processes and business goals.

The case study entitled “Smart-sleeve for iPhone enabling Dual SIM functionality” presented. The objective of the company is “to develop an iPhone accessory that acts as a secondary SIM card device to enable Dual SIM functionality”.
Task 1
- As a part of understanding the customer’s requirement for an effective Socio-technical System Design, critique on the needs of the customer based on the case study. In your analysis, elaborate on the technical and the non-technical needs. For example, technical needs can be related to the effectiveness of dual sim technology whereas non-technical needs can be effective communication that could completely change the method of communications etc.
- Identify and justify the design challenges. You could use bullet points whenever necessary. Also, you could include use cases to justify the identified points.
Task 2
- Feedback from Assignment 1a – It is mandatory to include feedback for assignment 1a. A brief reflection on the feedback is expected which would include ways of improvement in future.
- In identifying the requirements, the case study mentions that there was a need of “….the application interface was expected to be highly intuitive and user-friendly to enable a smooth and seamless switching between the SIM cards and using the phone features.…..”
